You should get strings that will bring out the bass and low ends in the guitar. Elixers are focusing on the high end, and d'addarios are over rated, I always say, I have NEVER liked d'addarios. you should get low end ones, and full ones. Those would be Martin, Dean Markley, DR, and Guild's aren't bad. Martins focus onthe low end, so if you get strings like elixers you won't bring out the full sound of the guitar.
ummm..
i changed to elixers 0.13's on my hd-35 and the guitar sounds better than it ever has. I've had martins' and d'addario's on it too.
I'm pretty damn happy with it..

I've used nothing but elixirs on my Alvarez, they sound pretty good, but I can't speak for other strings, which was why I asked. There seems to be a love/hate with elixirs overall. They are damn expensive though.
I am not against trying any string recommendations. I thought about trying what Dave plays, but I am afraid that is way to light for me.

I gots one. Theyre pretty sweet. Sounds good to me, looks good, mellow tone, smells nice. I dont really mind the action. Just try out every guitar in your price range, thats what I did, and came up with the D-15.

I have a Martin, I forget the model...

That one...Anywho, I have had Martin and D'Addario strings on it. The Martin SP strings sound quite nice on it, but they wear out sooooo fast. I just recently put x-light d'addario's on, and I usually play lights or mediums. I am very happy with the D'A XLs though...Just think about it a little. X-lights aren't THAT bad...

I have never gotten what people see n d'addario strings. I tried them twice, play other people's guitars with them, and I just don't like them at all. I can tell when a guitar has d'addario strings when I play because i think they are horrible.
Plus, has anyone ever checked out the Dean Markleys I tell you guys about? I seriously recommend them, but no one has checked them out. They are great, come on guys, try them.
Yes, I am in a box

I can't stand d'addario strings on my electrics at all, but I've never tried the acoustics. I LOVE ernie balls, has anyone tried their acoustic strings?

Speaking of strings, what comes on the D-15 from the store? I am sure it is martins, but what size? Is it the ones in the 'recommended strings' section on the fact sheet?

I don't really like the way Elixirs sound on my D-15 nor do I really care for D'addrio's that much either. My personal preference is actually phosphor bronze Martin strings or Everly Acoustic sessions. Either way I think the phosphor bronze highlights the deep tone of the guitar the best.
