Raised B

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Raised B

Unread post by twostepthis » Sat Feb 07, 2004 1:47 pm

So, i had been playing stay or leave using the capo on 7 and i had it down pretty well...but i really didnt like how the capo sounded and i wanted to play it like dave does. so i went to my local guitar shop and picked up some string. i got .039, .029, .018, .014, .010, and a .017. I put them on it the order. Then i tuned it to a raised B and all i have to say is that i love it. Its great being able to play down around the nut. Now, i dont suggest this if you only have 1 guitar, but i have a taylor 310ce and a crappy epiphone so i just put the string on my bad guitar. So, if anyone has been thinking of doing this it does work well.

Or you can try it in standard tuning, no capo... :)

i agree with twostepthis, it sounds SO much better in raised B, anyone who hasn't tried it, give it a shot if you have a spare guitar. the verse is about the same, but when you get to the chorus and the "remeber..." its so much better.
pretty good for "Oh" too, that hammeron-pull off is much cleaner

I like my raised b guitar. I just probably need new strings on there. They've been on for a few months and are slightly out of tune. If I tune them any higher I think they'll start snapping, which sucks when that happens.

I can't wait to do this once I get my new guitar. I think it's worth it!

yeah, the strings snap so easily in raised-B, even with the proper gauges.

i have a slight delema.
i have one guitar in standard, and i can't decide to put the second in either raised-B, or a full step down
i can't drop the standard a whole step cuz it buzzes too much when the strings are that loose.
what should i put the second guitar in, hmmmm......
i play 3 raised-b songs, and only one song in a full step down (waste)
just want an opinion, thnaks

I say raised b also. Its a cool tuning. My suggestion is to try other songs in raised b that are normally in standard. Some sound cool. I like the Nature intro to Billies in raised b.
