Hardest part of a song

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Hardest part of a song

Unread post by mdel21 » Sun Nov 16, 2003 8:40 pm

A lot of times everyone talks about the hardest song to play overall, but what does everyone think is the hardest section out of all the DMB songs. Some songs have really hard parts but also have easy parts. What do you all think?

Captain is really the only one I havent learned and got down yet solely because its still hard for me to play, Im sure I could get it but it trips me up when I first start tyring it so I eventually just say fuck it. Billies and some other songs might be harder but I guess I wanted to learn those songs more.

#41? really? i always thought that was the easiest dave song to play. i think repunzel is hard. not actually playing the song, but making it sound good w/ one guitar is tough. WWYS is the one ive had the most problems w/ i think.

Easiest, I assume your overexagerrating, its not the heardest but gettin that stretch down at first is hard. WWYS is hard but Ive gotten over that hump, its one of my favs to play actually. A lot are hard, some harder than others, but I think Ive gotten over most of them, theres still a few that I cant play because I dont care to and dont try enough, I suppose Ill try them all eventually but Captain and Last Stop havent really clicked, I need to start trying them.

yea, 41 was hard for me. my dumbass started playing guitar and palyed for a month, then started playing dave, so I hit a series of brick walls from the get go. in between dave I learned to play guitar but as far as hard parts goes, 41 intro took some long nights. wwys was hard too. But man it feels so good to play it. all worth it

it was the easiest. the stretches are long but i have really big hands and they are slow chord changes so it's easy for me. it was literally the easiest dave song to learn.

but i see where you're coming from micah, i didn't play dave until i had been playing or at least 6 or 7 months.

I think this depends on each player's ups and downs. I still have trouble with the mutting in Stone (lazy....) while some of you got that right. On the other hand I have no problems with the songs you mentioned so far! What I mean is, we can't talk about what's the hardest song, only about the hadest for each of us!

Yeah, the Stone and Warehouse muting is really annoying, for me, as well as stuff like captain, BOWA (I can't get it to sound right) and WWYS.....

On warehouse I do all the muting with my index finger except the highest note, where I use the thumb to mute the bass strings and the middle finger to give the note and mute the 2 remaining ones.
