L@LC help...specfically with WWYS and Typical Situation...

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

L@LC help...specfically with WWYS and Typical Situation...

Unread post by Jonny B Good » Tue Dec 17, 2002 10:01 am

Playing along with the CD yesterday...i totally forgot about some elements in these songs that I've only ever heard on the Luther album..

First, on typical situation....the little intro Dave does before hitting the main riff...what's he playing? Sounds to me like he just picking individual strings from the verse fingering with some of the open strings too? I dunno..just wondering if anyone actualyl knew?

And secondly, the ending of WWYS, where dave breaks from the jam and goes into that little part where he...um let's call it "scats" ...but right before going into minarets. What's he playing here? I can still really here the jam chords being played, but just in a rather "skippy" sort of manner? Again..if anyone knows for sure...help me out!

Thanks! :D
My "gitter" was my best investment

This might not be 100% but it's a start, it's a revised tab by me of jhp4c2@mizzou.edu's original tab....

Code: Select all

D&T scat outro into Minarets:
E----------------------- ---------------------------
B---8---8-8---8---8-8--- ----------------8----5-5---
G---7---7-7---7---7-7--- ----9----9-9----7----4-4---
D----------------------- ----9----9-9---------------
A----------------------- ---------------------------
E-0---6-----5---0------- --5----8------7----2-------

E------------------------ ------------------------
B---8---8-8-------------- ------------------------
G---7---7-7----9----9-9-- ---7----7-7----7--------
D--------------9----9-9-- ---7----7-7----7-------- etc..
A------------------------ ------------------------
E-0---6------5----0------ -5----8------7----3--2--
*just listen for similar changes

hope this helps...
