recently question

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

recently question

Unread post by dmfollower » Wed Nov 12, 2003 7:30 pm

does anyone else play this differently?:

Intro
E:---------------------------------------------------
B:---------------------------------------------------
G:-10---9---7---6---5---4----------------4-----------
D:-7----7---4---4---2---2-------7--0--2--------4--5--
A:-x----x---x---x---x---x---/5--------------2--------
E:-10---8---7---5---5---3----------------------------
(1) 4 1 4 1 4 4

I'm talkin' about the 5/7 ending. After the /5 7 i play strings E(5th), A(7th), and D(9th) and then E(7th), A(9th) and then A(10th) and then down to the G based verse. Understand, i didn't want to tab it out, so does anyone play that too?

Just trying to straighten it up so we can figure out what youre talking about.

Code: Select all

Intro
E:---------------------------------------------------
B:---------------------------------------------------
G:-10---9---7---6---5---4------------------4---------
D:--7---7---4---4---2---2-------7--0--2--------4--5--
A:--x---x---x---x---x--/5----------------2-----------
E:-10---8---7---5---5---3----------------------------
(1) 4 1 4 1 4 4
Is that the way you meant it to look?

It's the exact same thing as posted...just all the notes moved up 1 fret. Technically it's the EXACT same thing....but it's on the site as it is becuase Dave plays it that way. Either way works perfectly

EDIT: 1 note would be different

Didnt even realize that, if its the exact same thing, aside from the one note I dont think Id ever wanna play it that way. I like playing it the way dave does first off, and thats what kanter gives us, and that last chord is a lot harder than it has to be, plus you have to go farther down the neck then jump up to 2, Ill stick to the regular way, but if you like it and can play it well it doesnt really matter.

I'm really going to have to learn to type up tablature.

I know its probably not how dave plays it, that was just the way i taught myself before i found this site. It goes like this:

E-----------------------------------------------------------------
B-----------------------------------------------------------------
G-----------------------------------------------------------------
D-------7----------9---------------------------------------------
A---/5---------7-----------9--10--------------------------------
E----------5------------7-----------(3)-----------------------------

I can play both but i like it cause you move your hands around a lot more. The only problem i guess is that you have to be quick enough to hop down to the 3 to make it smooth together.

Actually, I have a question myself about recently. I duno if it is just me not being able to hear the guitar properly, but how is the part "People Stare" played in both instances (slow and fast)?

I know the tab from the site, but I doubt that I am playing it at the right speed and all. It is confusing to me. If someone could post video of it or at least audio, I would be in great awe of them.

The slow "People stare..." is when Carter is loud on backup vocals, before the "and they, go away, go away, go away..." before the verse. Fast is with the intro, sans first 2 chords, two times. I'll try and record it, but the quality won't be too good.

Ok, the quality's fine. Slight screwup around the 18 second mark, ignore it, I tried to do this in one take.
