so damn lucky on snl

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Yeah from what I could tell everything was exactly the same.
If your friend is already dead, and being eaten by vultures, I think it's okay to feed some bits of your friend to one of the vultures, to teach him to do some tricks. But ONLY if you're serious about adopting the vulture.

nah i saw him do stuff different to
"Will the people in the cheaper seats clap your hands? And the rest of you, if you'll just rattle your jewelry." John Lennon, 1963, at the high point of the group's set during the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family

Anybody think save me and so damn lucky were absolutely awful? Dave's voice sounds off and i didn't like some of the stuff trey was doing.

i'm not a big fan of 'save me' anyway so i was impartial...but SDL, although different from what a lot of us expect from D&T stuff, was still really good i thought...it did have quite a phishy feel with so much going on and the energy...especially when trey started singing with him at the end...sorry, i loved it

Very true. I remember reading an interview where he bad-mouthed bands that have an acoustic in the mix but you can't hear it cause of the electrics. Ummm...you should take your own advice Dave.

i can see where you're coming from when you say he sounded off. but i think dave was pretty good. timmy kicked ass, that is one short guitarist. heheh. that was the first time i'd seen trey perform..and i didn't like watching him the way i like watchin dave... trey looks like he's takin a crap.

WHAT??? BAD???? I thought it was awesome! Trey did some really kewl licks, and timmy was timmy. Dave's voice was fine, I think. I was up and playing along. DMB has never been mixed right on snl, imo, but I thought this was perfect! Also, what energy and love those guys were putting out! I need a copy of those two!!!! I am also a fan of Save Me, and the live version there made me like it even more.

Also, the difference of So Damn Lucky was the E chords. He played them high up on the neck instead of the open chord.

The difference of Save Me was that he played only octives for the G chord, and the jam, he just played the 4 bottom strings of the G.

Again, I LOVED both performances, and I so wish I had Dave & Friends tickets. Whom ever didn't like those performances, there must be something wrong with you ;) :!: :!: :!:

On the MTV special, it looked like Dave was playing SDL further up the fretboard...around 5, 6, 7...

btw, both were good performances. I think they'll do a little more jamming and stuff when they don't have such time constraints.

you were probably thrown off or something dancing ants.. MTV performance is where kanter tabbed it from and I doubt that kanter couldn'd tell where he was on the neck..

i wish i'd recorded it. it was during the intro..i remember it vividly because of the way he was hitting the strings with his left hand, and i was thinking..."i'll *never* be able to play that!"
