So I went to Guitar Center today...

...with my dad, because I'm shopping for a new guitar. And as I walked into the room with all the Taylors and Martins and Gibsons, this 16-18 year old kid was playing JTR. So then I started trying out some guitars, and I played a few riffs (SMTS, ASTB). Then I started playing Tripping Billies, and this kid joined in. "That's a good song," he told me. Anyway, then he's like, "Do you know LIOG?" And I said "Yep" and I jammed for like 5 minutes with this kid who I didn't even know.

So that was my cool thing that happened this weekend.

I have had similar experiences...I love it when that shit happens...when you're playing a lil dmb and the person next to you knows what you are playing and can appreciate the fact that you know it and will jam with you...most of those geeks in there won't think twice when you are playing DMB tunes. All they want to do is jam heavy metal or some crap.......I hear ya though on the story

Yeah, my dad always says that the trick to get the guys at a music store to leave you alone is to play something tricky. If you go in and try to achieve maximum feedback, you're gonna get kicked out.

That happened to me once as well.. me and a everydaydmbfan were jamming out in the martin/taylor/gibson room and someone out in the normal room was playing a Takamine and playing #41, so we joined in.. then we started up TB and he tried to join in, but didn't seem like he knew it well, or was just learning it.. so then he eventually got up and left the store..hehe

Good stuff! I playing Jimi Thing on my d-28 in the store and this old guy came in and started jamming out of E and A, it was incredible. First he used a pick and got used to the scales, then threw it down and fingerpicked one hell of a solo. We didn't really say anything after we were done, just kind of nodded, smiled, and left... kick ass!

About a 2 years ago, or so, I was playing a Metallica song and someone joined in with me. It was fun. But, now if a situation like that happens, I hope it's with DMB.

....2 weeks ago, i went into my local GC, and it was like Punk Heaven in there..feedback up...the same 2 chords from everyone..and they let it happen! i was pissed, so I played The Star Spangled Banner into Sunshine of Your Love really loud...no one would talk to me after that..

the old guy's rule! there was the old guy playing some awesome bass shit...i was afraid to jam with him, but he was tearing it up!

I love this kinda stuff, its so random and so cool. I was screwing around with billies on a martin and and i kinda paused to think or check out the guitar more and all of sudden from across the room the nature intro starts. I didnt even see the guy, he was behind the wall in the other section of the acoustic room. So we both went into and played pretty much the whole song. He walked out and it was this big old guy, he told me "that was awesome man, nice playing with ya" and walked away. It was such a cool moment. My dad just sat there listening and when we were done he went "holy shit"

I am glad I have never heard of a place called Guitar Center (bet there isn't one in the central states). Ward Brodt is a music store I First went to. No one knows guitars really at all, and they once told me they were phasing out playing, so I had to stop. I told the people at Good & Loud this, and they scratched their heads. They wondered why would you buy a guitar without playing it.

I am in there for 2 hours at one time, playing with the guitars and just chatting with the employes. They all know me too well, tool. I guess I feel like Norm walking in there . . . Me- hey guys Guys- hey nick. lol

Anyways, I barely never find anyone around here that knows much dmb to play. Only one person in Good & Loud knew Tripping Billies. I have never jammed with a dmb song with anyone, really. Well, my friend quinn I have, he plays bass as well as guitar (I got him intereted in playing

). We recorded Captain together, but I listened to it again, and it sucked. We have played a few dmb songs together. We mostly play beatles for eachother, lol (We are both huge beatles fans).

Anyways, yeah, I have never found anyone that really knows any dmb songs. Wait, there was 2 times down on State Street. I was walking by a saxaphonist, and asked him if he could solo to #41. He said he'd give it a shot, man he really did a good job. I shaked his hand, gave him 3 bucks and walked on. Also, I saw a girl with a violin once on State Street, and asked if she could play over Dancing Nancies, she didn't do much til the jam at the end, and again, very good.

As for guitarists that know dmb songs, I really have never met anyone.

MAN, what a long poinless post! lol. I also type to fast, maybe that's why I am getting early stages of Carpul-Tunnel, lol.
