Eleanor with Shannon Worrell

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I thought he played that with Shawn Colvin. Is there a different version out there?

Eleanor with Shannon Worrell

Unread post by wvhkie » Tue Nov 04, 2003 7:39 pm

It was Shannon Worrell, from the 1994 album 'Three Wishes.' The entire album is amazing. Dave sings, Tim plays guitar, mandolin, etc. Leroi plays sax. I tabbed the whole album out by hand many years ago so I will post 'Eleanor' as soon as i can get it in the computer. She also put out an album in 1996 under the name of September 67 called 'Lucky Shoe' and then another one by herself called 'The Moviegoer.' All three albums are very good--she has a very distinctive voice and an interesting approach to guitar. I was lucky enough to see her several times around 95,96 in c-ville but don't know if she is still performing or recording.

(lyrics by Rob41 from Dmbml)

She said give me perspective
Give me piece of mind
Cause the world, so selective, so lopsided
So unkind

Way back in Virginia
Way back in my
History she said
There's an empty armed
empty-handed girl
Just like me she said

And I said,
you're no empty shell
you're no empty shell
you're no empty shell
I say your brightest yell
Loudest yell
Heavenly bell I said
Now you know

Plucked from the sky like diamomds
Plucked from the sky like spring's new leaves
Whether it's clouds will or my wish
It happened, yeah yeah, you were
Plucked from the sky like dragonflies
Almost an angel, Eleanor
Almost an angel, Eleanor is
Almost an angel, Eleanor
Almost an angel

Almost an angel yeah...
(repeats)

She turns to her father
His head in a book she said
"Why even bother?" he don't look up

He thinks he knows me well
He thinks he knows this heart
He's memorized my heart
He's memorized my mind
He's just memorized two lines
The brightest yell
The loudest yell
Heavenly bell, I said, nell you know

Plucked from the sky like diamomds
Plucked from the sky like spring's new leaves
Whether it's god will or my wish
It happened, yeah yeah, you were
Plucked from the sky like dragonflies
Almost an angel, Eleanor
Almost an angel, Eleanor is
Almost an angel, Eleanor
Almost an angel

Shannon says:
I've got my guardian
Angel
I've got my guiding light
Eleanor is...

Dave:
Almost an angel
Eleanor is

Pretty sure that's not Dave playing guitar. I think he just sings on this one.
