stay or leave

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

stay or leave

Unread post by seth_southerland » Wed Oct 29, 2003 8:08 pm

before the question i would like to announce today's joyous occasion, i bought my first capo *sniffle sniffle anyway so when i got home i immediately started learing to play stay or leave, and i was goin good until i saw the bar chord that is played when the song goes "remember when..." when dave said remember, i said "dammit dammit dammit" because i couldnt play the chord because on my guitar the fretboard connects to the body at the 14th fret, and wouldnt you know, i cant play the bastard, so my question is, is there an alternate chord or anything else that would sound decent that i can play until i get my new guitar, which i also found out will have a cutaway...

i know what your saying. you can't play the bar chord in the 8th fret. its just a C chord so you can play either of these:

Code: Select all

  B:---8------3-----0---
  F#:--8------5-----1---
  D:---9------5-----0---
  A:---10-----5-----2---
  E:---10-----3-----3---
  B:---8----------------
EDIT: i was just playing around and i found a way to do the Lead Into "Remember we used to...". instead of slideing all the way to 9, just use your middle finger on the A sting to slide to 5 then use your pinky to play 8 on the b string. woo, thats so much easier with a capo.

seth, what they're saying is there is a standard tuning tab, no capo needed. I know both raised b and standard, both are awesome..
