Watchtower Jam

Unread post by makey » Tue Oct 21, 2003 11:28 pm

Hey all. I am still working on the stone..i just about got it down....but I have a new question.. I have been messing around with watchtower and I got it down pretty good but I can't figure out the (jam, interlude, improv, whatever you want to call it) to the version that I have...but the problem is I don't know what version it is. I know it isn't the listener supported or woodstock version.
It is a live version with the whole band that starts out real slow and then dave has a little jam before the jam with a long saxaphone solo. If anyone knows the basic tab to this, I would appreciate it.....Thanks!!!

Are you talking about the Recently version?? If you are, it is kick ass!! There are some tabs out there somewhere,,, ? I don't know if you like Howie Day or not, but he does a great cover of this and his website has it tabbed out the way he does it, which is pretty similar to the way Dave used to do it!!!
http://www.hdaee.org then go to tabs
Hope this helps.

It might be the Recently version...i checked out the site and will check it out. I was really looking for just that little jam part....is that what the Am G F Cslide thing is...it sounds a lot more complicated when Dave plays it...

Ok what Dave does is he plays power chords of Am,G and F, the only difference is he mutes the bottom 3 strings so he only plays the top 3. The slide you here is him sliding down from 1-3 or 3-5 or vice versa and then slamming down on the chord. I'm new at explaining things so if theres anythign I didnt make clear just lemme know

E:-------------------------------------------
B:-------------------------------------------
G:-------------------------------------------
D:-7--7--x--x--5--5--x--x--3--3--x--x--3--5--
A:-7--7--x--x--5--5--x--x--3--3--x--x--3--5--
E:-5--5--x--x--3--3--x--x--1--1--x--x--1--3--

He has also done this, that can be heard on the Recently version. After he hits the F chord, he does this

Code: Select all

e---------
B--1--/3--
G--0---0--
D--2--/4--
A--3--/5--
E---------
Yes, I am in a box
