A few questions

I'm playing at an open mic night tomorrow at school and a friend and I are doing Watchtower. Any thoughts on songs that could be thrown in at the end, like Wise Men into the Stone type of thing? Second question is, how would doing PNP-->Spoon sound? You'd have to drop the first two notes of Spoon, but what does anyone think?

well watchtower......howie day does a great cover of watchtower then goes into halloween chorus then back into watchtower, sounds great if you have a decent voice....pnp >spoon.....hmm i dont knwo about that, maybe liek a bluewater or any kind of improv jam around the E chord would be cool? just my thoughts peace

yeah PNP is kinda to upbeat and 'happy' to go slide into a much much slower song, but hey, that would sound very nice if pulled off

if you ever want more ideas, check out a bunch of setlists for good examples of songs to lead into others

The end of Stairway, if you're into that. Hell, when tim used to play with the band he'd play the stairway solo a lot of the time when they did watchtower. Its the same chords, and just a slightly different strum pattern. If you can sing it, it works out pretty well.

We're gonna do a verse of Sexual Healing at the end of Watchtower and then back to the "no reason to get excited" part. It sounds pretty good. We're gonna record it and I'll try to post it or something. I canned the PNP--Spoon idea. I'll probably do Two Step or Say Goodbye.

What I always do is sing the lyrics to stairway in the middle of the song, since the end of stairway is the same chord progression as watchtower. So you can go into a wild solo like the end of stairway, and end it off on it.

oh, and the pnp=>spoon, wouldn't work. If it was wwbom, without the PNP ending that dave uses when he does play wwbom now-adays, it would work.

I don't know about you guys, but i think it would sound cool as shit, to do PNP into Ants. Just think,, after that G-A-G slide thing, then the D-- just go right on into Ants without hesitation!!! Think about that,,, or even LIOG would sound good, anything that starts with D.
And also that Howie Day cover is unbelievable, Watchtower-Halloween-Watchtower, he sings his scrotum off!!
