Whats your favorite Dave Guitar?

Unread post by Beauford33 » Sun Oct 12, 2003 1:15 pm

Now, before you all say its the DM3MD, you must account the following:
When was his best music made
What had the best look
What made him different and visa-versa
I am going off by saying that it is by far the Chet Atkins. He made that guitar into what it is now. If you go anywhere and ask for th black dave matthews guitar, theyll know right away that it is the Chet Atkins SST. Though the DM3MD is a sig. model, it still isnt as recognizible as the Chet.

I don't know, the Chet sure made him different (like a band 3/5th African American, and a lineup of Guitar/Drums/Bass/Violin/Sax needed to be even more different) but my favorite? I like the W65 12 string. Great sound, beautiful guitar. I also like the one he used in the WWYS video, not sure what it is though.

Best music written while playing it - Chet
Best looks - DM3MD without a doubt
What made him different - Chet I guess, but I don't think the guitar had much to do with it.
Best sound - DM3MD

Overall, I absolutely love the DM3MD... "I love it , i love it, i love it, i love it, i love it"

He used a Gibson Chet standard. It had a soundhole. If you want the downlow on his guitars then check out the Daves gear. Jkanter did a hell of a job there. THANK YOU :D

The chet is classic and probably THE defining Dave guitar but my love goes out to the Martin. The HD-28 is a beauty and the DM3MD, which is really just a custom HD-35, are beautiful instruments. Taylors are good guitars but it broke my heart when he made the switch.

Martin = Quality
