I propose that Crush is wrong.
I propose that Crush is wrong.
The verse on the site:
E:-----------------------------
B:--3----3----3----2------------
G:--x----0----2----2----4----5--
D:--4----4----x----x----x----x--
A:--2----2----x----x----x----x--
D:-------------2----2----3----5--
I think the
G:---4----5--
D:---x----x--
A:---x----x--
D:---3----5--
chords are wrong.
This has bugged me for a long time cause it doesnt sound like whats being played. I knew a guy who tabbed out Crush from StoryTellers and he thought the two chords were represented by 4 chords:
G:---4----5----4----5
D:---5----5----5----5
A:---x----x----x----x
D:---3----3----5----5
This sounds like whats being played when I listen to StoryTellers or Dave and Tim shows. So I have always played it like that. Now I just watched StoryTellers and two Dave and Tim DVDs. None of them show real closely what hes playing but from what I can make out on the first chord it does look like his he strums a chord with his pinkie up an then puts it down for the rest of the first chord. When he moves to the second chord he leaves his middle finger planted which would not make sense if he wasnt going to play a note with it. I think that he is playing these these four chords you have represented by two:
G:---4----5----4----5
D:---5----5----x----x
A:---x----x----x----x
D:---3----3----5----5
The first two chords also could be:
G:---4----5----4----5
D:---x----x----x----x
A:---x----x----x----x
D:---3----3----5----5
I cant really tell. I wouldnt doubt it. But I think the second two are 99% right.
Thoughts?

At Farm Aid '02....Dave played it the way yuo have it.....I don't believe he played it like that on Storytellers but I may be wrong.....yes, you are 100% correct that Dave plays it like that occasionally and I have been meaning to add that to the site as an alternate way to play it but have just always forgotten. Watch Farm Aid '02....you will 100% be able to see that you are correct.
I also dont' think I heard Dave play those chords on the Some Devil included CD w/ Timmy.....but again, I may be wrong. Excellent observation(and ear).....I wil add it to the site in due time....please remind me!!!

The bonus CD of Dave and Tim.....just to let you know...when I play Crush, I do play it the way you have it tabbed above. Most of the video's I had used were from full band versions and I'm not sure if he does that w/ the band which is why it was probably not put up there are first. Anywya, thanks again for re-bringing it up to my attention...later mansubotai wrote:Crush isnt on Some Devil .....

It depends on where you got your CD. The pre-release from a store has only 5 tracks and Crush isn't on there. I think the 7 track CD (from the Some Devil site) and the 9 track version from The Warehouse have crush on them. Can anybody confirm?
Understand what you are playing or you will never understand what to play.
