So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Captain Lyrics

Unread post by Granny33 » Thu Jul 24, 2003 1:57 pm

Well i was looking at the captain tab and it says: Lead Into "Roll me back again..." from Verse. I listened to the song and couldn't hear this part and it wasn't on the lyrics either. Is this from D&T's crazy or what?
I can't believe that we would lie in our graves,
dreaming of things we might have been.

I had been wondering about that, actually. "Roll me back again" seemed a bit out of place.

Here's the scoop. Listen to the Lillywhite version. the lyrics are completly different. that's where kanter got the "roll me back again" and just didn't bother changing it when he copied it for the busted album. Also in my opinion this song is the second most obvious sex song by DMB. the first? When the World Ends. Just listen to the lyrics. I may be mistaken, but those are my top two for right now.

how can this be the second most about sex? i think the first is obviously Say Goodbye, then probably Crash. Crazy might be about sex, but I don't really think the lyrics for Captain support that.

the lyrics for lillywhite's captain are a little more polygamist... he says "and I think of ladies" on LW but "and i think of you" on BS

Ok, it's probably a love song, but I don't know about how much it has to do with sex specifically...

Code: Select all

Crazy as I may make my way through this world
It's for no one but me to say what direction I shall turn
I am the captain of this ship
Curious hands and fingertips
Day after day how I long for you my love how I long

Strange but it seems like there's a mutiny brewing inside me
But I don't want your pity only the promise that you'll stay with me tonight
Now I am the captain of this ship
Curious hands and fingertips
Day after day oh how I long for you like crazy

Oh our love - how you do me
Oh my love - come now lets go again
Oh our love - everything
Oh won't play with me again got all night

Same old song won't you come stay all my life after all
Oh how could I even try to fight after falling into your arms?
Oh mesmerized by your smile the way it lights up under your eyes
Oh how could I even try love won't you stay with me?

Oh our love - how you do me
Oh my love - come now lets go again
Oh our love - everything
Oh won't play with me again we got all night

The same old song
Won't you come dance with me my love after all?

the chorus seems like it but not the verse so much.

dreaming of things we might have been.

Dudes? What about Rapunzel. Seems to be the song most obviously about sex to me.

rapunzel is pretty sex driven
Laughter come on downtown window
And we see faces walking back
Tonight everybody gonna remember
Remember in time...
