alternate captain verse chords

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I was just messing around and found out a much easier way to play the verse for capatain, and to me it sounds pretty good.Let me know what you think.

I went ahead and analyzed it real quick. You're using the same exact chords so you could play it this way if you prefer, you're just leaving out the fifth in all the chords, which might make the last three chords seem a tad unclear since Dave doubles the third. Doubling the third is usually not done because it makes the tonic of the chord harder to recognize, and can confuse the chord with it's relative minor chord. Dave does this purposefully though because of the type of mood it creates, and having the fifth in the chord helps show what chord he is meaning to use (therefor showing how it's suppose to function within the progression.) The other small problem is because you're shifting the first chords to be based on the (low) E string, even though it's still in the correct octave, the timbre is a tad odd and doesn't sound as full.

Obviously this works fine because it's still the same chord progression, and after playing it, other than that whole timbre thing, it doesn't sound bad. If you like playing it this way, it might be a nice way to make the song more unique to you.

EDIT- And dmbtabs, welcome to it.
