Squirm ( Dave solo)

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

interesting attempt. if you watch though, that guitar can't possible be tuned to standard. if you put a capo on 5 and play similar chord shapes to your but in the C position i think you nailed it. Your notes are all right but I think dave is playing one string lower than your tab. Seems most evident when he plays the Bb -> C ("Drum beats louder") part.

what makes u think that its not in standard? thats his 12 string guitar.... every other song he uses it on is either in standard or drop d.

just the deep tone he is getting seems unlikely even on that beautiful 12 string on those high strings. the other reason, as i said, is that it seems his fingerings on some of those notes and chords in the D+T and Dave solo videos is lower. You could 100% be right, I just think that based on how deep some of the notes are makes it seem like you couldn't really get the same full tone without playing the bottom 2 strings

although the other thing would be that i could imagine it being a pain to tune that 12 string to a baritone tuning, so i guess if it wasn't in standard he would have used his veillette

I'm really not trying to play devils advocate, but in search for the correct answer as well... if you say he is in baritone tuning (highly unlikely) the capo is to be on the 7th fret, not the 5th. In which case those chords would definately not sound correct. I am almost positive they tabs are correct that demar77 has are correct. This is kind of bothering me, so I will keep looking and trying different things and as a matter of fact just might go to the local music shop and play me a nice 12 string with those chords. haha. Once some more videos come out from this show or others, i am sure will have it figured out.

Yeah I'm with you and I think it's great that people are looking so hard into it to get the best possible tab. To me though the higher octave sound seems more like what Tim might play. But I also am not the best at figuring songs out on my own, I'm just alright at playing them once someone has done the leg work. I use my own tab on this one which is drop d, capo 3, with everything based in the "D" position" (5th fret relative to capo)... it just sounds full. but we definitely want to land on what's right and not what sounds right

i find that really hard to believe... 1st because if you take a standerd tune guitar and tune it to raised b tuning your strings are so tense... they are more likely to snap while playing or tuning it... and its also not good to keep a standerd tune guitar in raised b for long, becuz it puts strain on the neck.... 2nd because i thru the capo on the 7th fret and played it and it didnt sound so hot.... but, i cant rule this out becuz im not exactly sure either.

Tuned down 1 full step from standard. He is undoubtedly playing on the low e string

I just wanted to add to this that he is indeed using his 12 String, tuned down 1 full step. This is an octave lower than the 12 string Veillette Dave uses, which is the same as capoing standard tuning on the 10th fret, or raised b tuning on the 3rd fret. Either way, he basically plays the same thing he does when he is using the Veillette, with the band
