Dave's Martin: HD-28 or HD-28v?
for D&T shows, does Dave use an HD-28 or HD-28v? I thought the V, but one website says he uses both variations.
Also, I thought the V denoted the V profile neck, but lots of people believe the V denotes "vintage" appointments. if that's true, then what's the difference between a D-28 and an HD-28?

I believe the V is for vintage. and the difference between the D series and the HD series is that the HD series has Herringbone bracings. Im not entirely sure if its the bracings that are herringbone or if its just the trim on the body. Basically I don't know what I'm talking about, but I tried

Well, the V is actually for vintage, but the entire vintage line all come with a modified V neck so... your both kind of right. but here is part of the description Martin uses for Naming its guitars. The initial letter(s) usually stand for the body size/type.
Other style options include:
C = Cutaway
12 = Twelve-string
H = Herringbone
HP = Herringbone pearl
V = Vintage
Note: Hyphen (-) separates size prefix from style prefix.
