Dave's HD-28v: L@LC vs. L@RC

Unread post by bookbinder » Tue Aug 26, 2008 10:21 pm

at which show did Dave's HD-28v sound better? why?

I heard he switched his sound chain between these shows. don't know if that's true, or a myth. but his guitar sounds different after the final mix.

not talking about the other guitars he used at L@RC -- the Taylor GA or GS or whatever it is sounds completely different than the Martin. even the DM3MD he uses for DDTW and Bartender sounds different than the HD-28v -- my theory is that's the Engelmann spruce top.

There is so much at play here that it would take hours to adequately describe it.

We're talking about vastly different inherent room acoustics, different original signal chains, different recording techniques, different front of house mixing, different studio mixing, different studio mastering, different studio engineers and mastering engineers, different guitars . . . ad infinitum, et cetera, et cetera.

o i love that video. i wasnt sure if that was the M-32 tho, judging from pictures of the M-32 online the one he used looked bigger. but u cant really tell from pictures. i like the cutaway on it too. i would love to try a lakewood but the closest place that sells them is in New York.

Look on the back cover of the L@LC cd case. He has 2, one normal and one with a cutaway.
