Martin HD-35 vs. D-35

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Martin HD-35 vs. D-35

Unread post by gunnar1104 » Tue Jun 10, 2008 6:41 pm

I know there are few differences between these two. The HD has scalloped bracing, bracing farther forward, tortoise shell pickguard, other cosmetics, etc. But the thing I was wondering is if any of you have played these two back to back that could give me an idea on the sound difference and whether it is worth the swing for the extra cash.

thanks in advance,

-Gunnar

I have never played the HD-35, but I think it is known that it has a different sound and not necessarily better...

As with all guitars you have to just play them for yourself and see what you like more. I doubt anyone will be able to accurately describe the difference between two guitars for you. And with two instruments as expensive as those two, you really shouldnt even think about buying them without extensively playing them, as well as many other models/brands.

I've played them both and definitely prefer the D35. To each his own. Like sfmartins said, you just have to play and see which one you like.
