Jerry Jones standard tuning?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Jerry Jones standard tuning?

Unread post by crazyhorse » Thu Aug 30, 2007 10:44 pm

all the tabs online are in standard tuning like bayou, break free, smooth rider....but i have the JJ baritone and the only way to get into standard tuning is using a capo on the 5th fret...but dave seems to be in standard tuning on that guitar.

if i am wrong, does anyone have the Jerry Jones tabs he plays for those songs?

On the main page, the one with all the album covers, the songs he plays on the JJ are tabbed for baritone tuning.

(This part he does different hammer variations...see video link)

Just to clarify, every song that Dave plays on his Jerry Jones is in baritone tuning. He doesn't re-tune that guitar to my knowledge.

Hey. I forgot to ask you, are you the same crazyhorse from Ants that PM'd me about the JJ baritone a few months back? If you're not, just disregard this.

Anyway, Bayou goes like this:

Code: Select all

Intro/Middle Fill:

B----------15----------14---------17---15----------14---------------
F#---13---------17---------15----------------17----------15---------
D-----------------------------------------------------------------------
A-----------------------------------------------------------------------
E-----------------------------------------------------------------------
B-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Verse/Chorus:

B-----------------------------------------------------------------------
F#----------------------------------------------------------------------
D-----------------------------------------------------------------------
A--------------7-----5---------4h5------------------------------------
E-----5---5---------------5--------------------------------------------
B-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Breakdown: (Dave doesn't play, but this is at least something)

B------------------------------------------------------------------
F#-----------------------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------------------------
A------7----7-----5-----4-----------------------------------------
E------5----5-----5-----5-----------------------------------------
B------------------------------------------------------------------

Jam: (Not sure if this is exactly what Dave does, but I use chords to make it fuller anyway)

B------------------------------------------------------------------
F#-----------------------------8----6--------------------------------
D------------------------------7----5--------------------------------
A------------------------------x----x--------------------------------
E----5--5--5--5-5--5---5----- 7----5-------------------------------
B--------------------------------------------------------------------

All that I ever learned of that song was the main riff:

Code: Select all

B-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F#------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A-------------------5--4-----------4/5/4----0--4------------4--2-------2--0-------
E---------------------------2--2---------------------0-0-0----------0---------------
B------3-3-33------------------------------------------------------------

What other tunes do you need help with? Like someone said earlier, all of the Everyday songs + Some Devil are in baritone tuning if you click on the link on the left hand side of the tab and he never retunes the baritone. I know the main riff for Can't Stop that Dave played solo if you want that. I'm glad I've been able to help out. Have fun with the songs.

I just realized when I was playing the JJ today that I typed the bold part wrong at first, but I changed it now. I didn't have my guitar out when I tabbed it yesterday, so that's why I put 2's rather than the 0's. Sorry about that.
