Dave Difficulty

compared to other bands, is playing dave any harder or easier or about the same? Ive only played dave and now know all of the songs and am considering starting to go to other bands with similar styles. Any comments are welcome.

Care to give any reference on to whom you're wanting to compare Dave?

I mean Dave's style vs. Jason Mraz's is talkable, but stepping into like SRV isn't.

i guess its more of bands like oar and john butler trio and some jason mraz... so if that helps at all

Dave songs aren't difficult after you have them behind you. They are tough at first.

I personally think the hardest part about a lot of Dave songs stems from the stretch at times, and singing them as well.

Still not difficult once you get into them, but they aren't the easiest to jump in to.

Every band has its own style which always takes a little getting used to. If you can play all the dave songs, you can probably pick up any rhythm guitar part fairly quickly and probably have enough dexterity to play most solos. good luck.

Dave songs are extremely difficult. He has a totally original style and technique to his guitar playing. Also, He is able to sing and do all of this at the same time.

Once you learn a few of his songs and get a feel for his style and the chord structure he uses (it's incredibly repetitive once you figure it out) you can learn his catalog pretty easily. I would say in the realm of acoustic music he's of moderate difficulty to learn initially, depending on what song you're playing. There are a lot of popular guitar players out there who are much harder to play though. At least in my opinion.

I just picked up the guitar and I am currently taking lessons (had one) My question is. Is it unrealistic for me to try to learn dave now or should I learn some easier style stuff first. And then make my progression into it anything would help thanks

i'd say just try a bunch of things - don't just play dave, but learn a couple songs if you want - theres plenty that are easy if you're just starting (christmas song, song that jane likes among others)
