I have a project that I'm doing for the Music Appreciation class I'm taking. I have to present the song "Jimi Thing," as performed on the Live at Luther College CD, to my class and have to describe the meter or rhythm, harmony, melody, and motives.
I know that there are countermelodies played between Dave and Tim on their guitars, the song is in the E key, and the tempo is roughly 103 bpm. Any other info that you guys can divulge will be greatly beneficial.
Thanks!

- Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": There are five different types of chairs in this hotel room.
I'd call the main riff (played during the intro - 7h9 etc.) a motif. It's a riff, it repeats.cgiles wrote:Thanks, that's really what I needed. Anything more is just icing on the cake.
Can someone explain the motif in the song. I know that Dave plays the main melody, which repeats, but I don't know how many notes are in it or if it even qualifies to be called a motif.
