Warehouse Help

Unread post by Tyguy » Sun Dec 17, 2006 5:12 am

When playing Warehouse and muting strings, how does one mute the strings when playing the strings on the way down? FOr example, when playing the first few notes, ites easy because I can hit them in an upqard motion as well as mute strings, but the next few notes after that is hard to mute the right strings as well as play the right notes....

I hope that makes any kind of sense, as its 5 in the morning for me so im a little tired

THanks

i think the trick is to pivot your hand on neck when you hit the b string on the way back down. The first part of the riff, your hand is in normal position, but after the riff peaks, you gotta twist the thumb up, and the mutes will magically fall into place. watch dave or even the kanter vid and youll see what i mean

Wrapping the thumb over will help if you aren't accurate and are hitting the open E string. I know Dave does this but I don't as it is just wasted motion.

What helped me is think fast little strums and lots of muting. Practice the song while just playing the individual notes without the strumming to get the timing down. Once you feel comfortable with that then try throwing in the muting. The rest of the song is easy besides the main riff.

Remember to take your time and go slow. Learn it slow then speed it up as you get more competent until you can play it as fast as Dave.
