WAYG breakdown

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

There is a chord missing on the tab on this site, because he returns to the alternate D chord for just a second before starting the riff over for the second time. The best way to hear it is to download the video of Farmaid 2002 from KaZaA.

Essentially, this is what it is like:

(Play it twice, but stop on the second to last chord when going back into the verse)

Code: Select all

E:------------------------------------------------
B:----8---3---3---3---3-------8---3---3---3---3---
G:----x---x---0---0---0-------x---x---0---0---x---
D:----5---4---x---x---x-------5---4---x---x---4---
A:----7---5---2---3---x---0---7---5---2---3---5---
E:--------------------3---------------------------
I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": The food court is downstairs. The cookie stand is upstairs. It's not like we're talking quantum physics here.

This is how I play it:

Code: Select all

E:-------------------------------
B:----8------3----3---3---3------
G:----x------x-------------------
D:----5------4----x---x----------
A:-7------5--5----2---3---x---0--
E:------------------------3------
     x3 x3 x3 x3 x3 x3
I pluck the single note on the first two chords then strum three times and I do two muted or open strums after the first two chords also. Down up down strums on the first two chords and for the last 4 chords I play down down up strums. Hope that helps, if you still need help I could do a recording probably, let me know.
