Where the hell did that come from?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Where the hell did that come from?

I've always been kind of below average when it comes to play Dave tunes (and I've only been playing in general for a couple of years), but for some reason, I don't know why, I had some kind of epiphany tonight, or whatever you want to call it.

It's a Friday night, my buddies are all downtown and I'm sitting home here alone, so I figured I'd try screwing around with some of the songs that people say are the "harder" ones in Dave's catalogue. I picked Say Goodbye and Jimi Thing.

I'd attempted each of these a couple of times previously with little or no luck and the end result of me losing attention and giving up.

For some reason, though, tonight was different. It took me about 15 minutes to learn Say Goodbye and another 10-20 for Jimi Thing. Mind you, I'm not as flawless as say, Pat , but I'm more than solid enough to impress chicks.

I know that many of you probably learned this shit faster than I did and it means absolutely nothing to you, but I just had to post about my lame accomplishments.

It looks like I've got to buy myself a Martin, now.

Yeah, I'm still in the process of saving up, but I've got it narrowed down to a a HD-28V and 710. The Taylor 710 is about $1000 cheaper than the Martin.

Congrats man, i've learned most of dmb's songs and i never thought i could have done it. The first time i saw dave play(which was on tv) i was totally confused at the way his hands just hovered and flowed over the frets. Its fucking amazing when you realize you've learned/picked something up. Just keep playing, if you can afford a martin or taylor then go for it!

I"m currently saving up for a tak myself

congrats. i love those moments when you struggle so hard for such a long time, and then all of a sudden it clicks and it becomes easy.

Shit like that is what has kept me going. You gotta fight through the plateaus sometimes, but when something clicks it is glorious, regardless of how small it seems.

Taks are nice. If you're inthe market for a Tak, you might also want to consider a Larivee.

Anyway, thanks for all the kind words, everyone. Now that I can play most mediocre-difficult/hard songs with relative ease, it's time to tackle shit like Warehouse and The Stone again.

Let this be a lesson to all the newbies who think playing revelations never happen.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away
