Drive in drive out

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Damn...

anybody have any tips on how to play and sing this song at the same time? I can play and sing most dave songs but this one is giving me a particularly hard time.

My only advice is to break the song down into sections:

Everytime dave finishes a sentence he throws that into the end of the verse.

Code: Select all

End of Verse
E:--------------------
B:--------------------
G:--------------------
D:----5--4-------5-5--
A:----------5----x-x--
E:-5-----------3-3-3--
   2 3 1 2 1

As far as the chorus goes i think its in some kind of different timing(don't know anything about that stuff). The verse has the exact same rhythm as "The Stone" as well.

Practice makes permenant so its important to learn it the right way.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": "I once saw this in a movie, it was about a bus that had to keep it's "speed" above 50, and if it's "speed" dropped, it would explode...I think it was called "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down"!

No, it is the same time signature. 6/8 throughout.

just play the shit out of the riffs...then after a while it will be burned into your fingers. then you can start singing with it.

try and be able to play it and hold a conversation.

just play it a whole lot...then the words will come.

Ya just practicing it is the only way to get it but thanks for the tips. Actually Tripping Billies never gave me a hard time, but the stone still does.

One day I just sat down for like 2 and a half hours trying to play and sing the verse of seek up, and after playing it over and over and over it became a little more familiar.
