He's right. Sometimes this is referred to as letting the note ring out. But yeah just hold that note while u play the next one.

I haven't checked the site but i know that sometimes dave will hit a 7 on the A string right after the 8, and that is the way i play it. Its like a step from the 8 to the 7. If you hit it in the rhythm(i never spell that right) you'll see how it fits. As far as just playing the 8~ i will give it just a bit of a bend if your not playing the 7.
