I feel like you would need two sets of arms and a double neck guitar to play the piano version of that. Although, I have seen crazier things.

Yea i guess you're right, I've just always thought of it as such a piano song because of the bass part of it. I would love to hear that bass performance though, I bet it was sweet.

I transposed the most well-known parts of this awesome piano tune into a
fingerstyle-guitar-friendly key, and I may add more of it later. I use a
thumb-pick to play the bass line so it stands out, but it sounds fine
without it.

Remember that you can capo anywhere. I think a capo on 6 (putting it in the
key of G#) matches the original version. If you capo that high and don't have
a cutaway acoustic or an electric, this will probably make it too hard to
reach the high notes, because they would be on actual frets 16 and 18. If
that's the case you can drop them an octave to look like this:

                 (relative to capo)
     2nd string (B)-3-3-3-|-3-3-3-3-3-3-3---|
     3rd string (G)-2-4-4-|-2-4-4-2-4-4-2---|

Of course there are other ways to play it, do whatever feels and sounds right.

Tuning:
(1) = D
(6) = D (D A D G B D)

Check out any version of this song done by Danny Gatton. Hands down blows anyone else's version away. I don't think you will find it on any of his studio albums cuz he mostly did it live and was improvised....so you will have to get it off a fan made tape.

Danny Gatton was one of the worlds best guitarists. Please check him out.

Correct you are...

You can tap a bassline and then tap a melody line, but you can't do anything chordal really. The bassline uses the EAD strings, and the melody noodles around up past the 12th fret on the G string.

I'm not sure if I have one or not. I know they exist. I was fortunate enough to be able to see Danny Gatton play on a regular basis in the clubs where he primarily played in the Washington D.C. area when I was in my late teens. That is where I saw him play L&L many times. I'll try to locate some sources.

dude do you have/could you make a recording of that? i really love to do it...ive tried a few times but i am just so bad at piano style tapping; in other words, two playing a bassline and melody at the same time...my head just cant take it
