Ok so I finally got the stone down to the point where I tried to play along with D&T, I have never played it for a really long timer, well after the intro, first verse and first chorus, by the time I went back into the second verse my wrist was on fire and my fingers would not cooperate, looks like not only do I need to be able to play this, but have some mad endurance.

I had the same problem when I first tried playing the stone. You just gotta play all the way through it once. It hurts but every time you change from verse to chorus or whatever the pain kinda subsides in one area and starts building in another one, then you switch parts again. If you can get all they way through the song without screwing up real bad youre doing good. Just keep at it and you'll be able to play the song no problem all the way through soon.

the switch back isnt hard - its the switch to the chord.

Well I just forced my self to play the entire way through with the 2-10-99 version, and I can barely type with my left hand lol, the pain would go away kinda then come back, but I knwo if I keep it up it will go away. Wow that hurt! Oh and I do press my thumb against the back, I don't think I could do it the other way, besides, by pressin gmy thumb against the back I get even more pain yay!
Next Step: singin along

here is one thing that i am working on in all my songs... is easing up on my left hand... i had the hand cramps after playing likve 5 minutes straight of anything and i realized that i was putting the boa constrictor on the guitar neck... i think since i had to press really hard to get the proper force when i first started that intensity level was just inbetted in my brain... any ways long story short... try easying up on the strings it helped me out a ton might just be the problem you have....

I just play that chord with my pointer, middle and ring finger, that way your pinky is kinda out in the air like right above the 5th fret so you can make the transition fast and smooth.

i also know that i have big hands, although i would never play it like that...the stone is one song that never ever gave me any pain...so far captain is the one that sticks in my mind as pain inducerjsgksu wrote:I guess I have big hands then, cuz I didnt think it was that bad of a stretch at all. I think it makes the transition a lot easier too.shane wrote:thats a bit of a stretch though.
