American Baby INTRO tabs?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

American Baby INTRO tabs?

Unread post by fret » Sat Sep 03, 2005 1:47 pm

Did a few searches, came up empty handed.. But I was trying to get my hands on the few notes to American Baby Intro.. Anyone have a link on this board to those tabs that I overlooked?

Any Help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Fret

This is my first lick i've ever really picked out by ear, so it might be wrong. but it sounds like:

e---7--7--7---10---9---7------7--
b---------------------------10-----
g----7--7--(7)---7---7------------
d-----------------------------------
a-----------------------------------
E-----------------------------------

American baby: Violin Intro

Basically what i do is let my index and middle finger rest on the 7s and let the pinky do the real work. If i had i microphone i would record it for you. Sorry!

haha, i think he means the actual; song 'American Baby Intro", but that actually does sound right for the intro of "AB" :)

I play that like this:

Code: Select all

e|-------------------------------------
B|--10---12---12---15-15-14-12-10------
G|-----7----7----7----------------7-7--
D|-------------------------------------
A|-------------------------------------
E|-------------------------------------

But I am assuming that he wanted the actual AB Intro tab. And Pat's is correct.

I forgot about there being a intro before the intro. I mainly just listen to Die Trying and Hunger on the album. I do listen to the rest but i manily just go to those first. But for that intro though i have not listen to it enough to tab it. I thought it was just dave on piano the whole song.

Pat's tab is accurate. But I hear him play a note right before going into that in the 9-3 recording. Am I going nuts or is it there?

I think he plays an open D 2, 0, 2, 3...

I saw him at Phoenix and he wasn't using his pinky at all so I'm guessing the D is open.

Yea, I do either, I kinda like the pinky so I can mute more, but we all have to play exactly like Dave!

Yeah, I make some muting there too.

And no, not exactly like him. As long as it sounds good, I'm for it. For example, Dave's strumming. I think I strum differently that Dave in half of the DMB songs I play.
