Satellite alt tab, i think

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Satellite alt tab, i think

Unread post by keyvan » Tue Aug 30, 2005 8:30 pm

hey,
i picked up guitar over in May of 05, so I am still quite new and all. Anyway, for most of summer I went to a private teacher (a guy who goes to berklee music in boston). he was a jazz guy, but knew alot of dmb stuff. I was into dmb more than anything else, and one of the first songs i learned was satellite. he didnt like the tab that i showed him at all and he taught me this one (which i find is much easier to finger [at least for me as a newb]) it sounds solid, but is it wrong? I thought i would share it anyway (hes gone now, not sure if he just made it easier for me as a new player or if this is just a better tab). here it is:

intro:

Code: Select all

E------------------------------
B------------------------------
G------------------------------
D-----8---6----5---3---6-------
A---6---4----3---1---4---3-----
E-4----------------------------
verse/chorus?:

Code: Select all

E-----------------------------
B---4-444--4-444--4-444--4-444
G---5-555--5-555--6-666--6-666
D---3-333--3-333--6-666--5-555
A---x-xxx--4-444--x-xxx--6-666
E---4-444---------6-666-------
^ sorry if i messed up on that one (dont think i did though), i converted it to tabs from a chord chart paper that he wrote all the chords he taught me or wanted me to learn(4 chords).

alright yeah, i gotta go to class now, see ya

nope, it's not wrong to play it that way for the intro, it's just taking the same notes from this sites tab and moving it up one string

the chorus on the other hand, in my opinion it sounds horrible, i suppose if you do want to strum the chorus, you could use these chords:

EADGBe
4x68xx

x468xx

6x68xx

x668xx

just replace those chords with what he gave you

have you shown him this site?

can't say it enough.
hosting the oscars is like winning the heisman trophy. no matter how you do in the ballgame, or whatever, they can't take it away from you. and even if you kill your wife and an ex-waiter, they still have a hard time taking it away from you

alright yah, thanks for the input

you're right, that sounds much better than my teacher's chorus chords

i showed him the site but he was a bit critical on songs and showed me simplified fingerings for the songs i tried to learn and then wrote it on chord paper or tried to show me to play it with notes and stuff (made me memorize all the note locations on the neck). he didn't condone my using tabs so thats why.

yeah i have been using the site since i have started guitar and i love it, keep up the good work. the best part is the videos :) (Also got a lot of information that helped me out here on the boards) thanks

alright see ya

For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again

Just while we are in the satalite thread, you know "rest high above" the first chord 6688 ( i think ) is this right? Compared to the other 3 chords just doesnt seem to fit in? Any suggestions or is it just me?
