Code: Select all

e--1 <--1
b--1 <--1
g--2 <--2
d--3 <--4
a--3 <--3
e--1 <--1
the first set of #'s is the chord. the ones after the arrows are which finger plays it.

i guess you can. most people usually just frat all the strings with your first finger, and then add the other fingers.

start off with this

Code: Select all

e--1
b--1
g--1
d--1
a--1
e--1
using just your first finger. then add the rest. and yes it will hurt at first.

there is one that is a little easier to work on...

Code: Select all

e--2
b--3
g--4
d--4
a--2
e--
it's a B minor. same idea, but one less string, so it's a little easier...i think the easiest of the basic bar chords.

they are cool because you can slide them around.
like, that B minor is a B minor because the root is a B (second fret on the A string). but if you slide it to 5 for example, you have D minor.

here are all 4 of the chords:

Code: Select all

e--1-----------1---------------2------------2----
b--1-----------1---------------4------------3----
g--2-----------1---------------4------------4----
d--3-----------3---------------4------------4----
a--3-----------3---------------2*-----------2*---
e--1*----------1*---------------------------------
  F Major F minor B Major B minor
i hope that posts right. anyway, those notes with the stars, those are the roots of the chords...

a good song to practise this stuff is The General by Dispatch. it's got all 4 shapes in there somewhere.

that was quite the ramble, sorry...

and for some reason i have blue hair. you gotta have blue hair.

i always play F the 133211 way, for some reason it fits my hand better. if a song needs the 3211 voicing, i just strum the top 4 strings with the same chord shape.... i have weird hands maybe. they're too big for me, it's like i'm walking around in big shoes.

"oh peggy hill's feet is big like boat..."

The Cheat is GROUNDED! We had that lightswitch installed so you could turn the lights on and off, not so that you could throw glowstick raves. Now lets go crack open this glowstick and pour it in homestar runners mountain dew. i heard they have to pump your stomach after you do that.
