EASIEST song.

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

EASIEST song.

the other side of the coin. which song is the easiest to play? which song were yall pleasantly suprised by how easy it was.
halloween IS easy. gray street is pretty easy too. i was psyched to see some of my old familiar friends (chords) on spoon. i know some of you are gonna be like "i was shocked at how easy stone is" or even billies. they are all getting easier for me now. few songs are perfected but ive been tearing through them songs now at a record pace. i didnt attempt BOWA and billies until a week ago( i was sceeeeered), but i can say that im suprised at how conquorable they are, however they are not easy by any means. im really taking a big o' break from a report so if you think this is dumb..... but we were all beginners at one point. just relating to the noobs.

Christmas Song is pretty easy. I believe that was the first dave song i learned. Watchtower's fun to try to play, but it's hard for me to get his rhythm down. (Course i am just an uncoordinated, rhythmless white boy)
Hell, Teh Satellite riff is even easy once you train your fingers where to go. Just my thoughts

easiest song is Proudest Monkey. However, its up there as one of the hardest songs to sing and play at the same time. Fool To Think is another example, although its quite tougher to play but equally difficult to play and sing simultaneously.

easiest song to both sing and play at the same time is prolly Dave's "first" song - I'll Back You Up - chords are basic, rhythm is basic, timing is basic, but a very sweet song.

hmmmm. can't think of many other ones......hmmm can't think of ANY other easy ones. oh Space Between is pretty easy. so is Where are you Going.

Loving Wings is easy to play but its like Proudest Monkey in that's it's extremely difficult to play and sing at the same time. it takes a lot of practice.

Typical Situation is pretty easy to play, I guess... Big Eyed Fish is prolly one of the easiest - chords are easy, timing is basic, rhythm is basic.

ok, next person's turn. if I see someone mention the Stone in this thread I'm gonna get mad. SO FUCKIN WATCH OUT!!!

Actually grave, before I found this site I went through months and months of refining it and trying to get it to sound right...since then, I have learned more and now could probably just pick it out by ear, but the point it that it was a hard one to perfect...I'm not trying to toot my own horn in the least, but Dave has now become boring to me...awsome, but not a challenge...I'v bigger fish to fry (i.e. Keller Williams and Tim Reynolds) :)

the thing about stone is that dave strum/pick. im not there yet. i do it partially but its really just a mean and nasty pick that i act like is a strum. any tips on getting this down. hand positions etc?

I'm not sure why some think that the stone is all strumming....I have only heard/seen him strum the notes twice........(on that radio show and on the charlie rose show)....he picks the notes when he plays with tim and with the band...I think it sounds better when its picked anyway...the stone was hard for me...but that could have something to do with the fact that I had been playing guitar for a year when I tried it...

I can play the song pretty well, but the problem i have is not hitting the open low E string when playing...Dave keeps his third finger muting that string the whole time, as does jkanter in his video, but i just can't play the rest of the notes while keeping that finger there..i just gotta keep practicing...but for the most part i can do the strum/picking...just gotta keep away from the e string
