tuning my guitar down a half step.....

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Ah a simple one!

Standard Tuning is E-A-D-G-B-e right?

So down half a step is Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-eb.

You can do this one of a few ways. Tune it to the corresponding flats on a piano, use a tuner, or just tune your low E to Eb and tune the rest of the strings from there.

The cool thing is, if you don't feel like tuning your guitar back up you can just slap a capo on the first fret and you're golden.

Hope that helps!

Kevin

Completely different posts. The first said if you were in Eb and you wanted to get to E, just put a capo on the first fret.

The latter stated if you were in E, just put a capo on the first fret and tune back to E ( because in E tuning with a capo on 1...you are in F). As you take the capo off, you arrive at the much desired tuning of Eb.

"if youre too lazy to retune your guitar just put a capo on the first fret and its in standard tuning." (or whatever he said) - that pretty much implies the next post. just takes some reverse thinking type stuff.

That refers to being too lazy to tune back.
Eric's suggestion told him the easiest way to tune it in the first place. Quite different.

hehe, i just tried out drop C, tuning all strings 2 steps lower, and with my new strings, i swear i was playing a bass guitar again (out of tune mind you, but like a bass none the less....). Different tunings are awesome, they can be a pain sometimes but fun

I tune my baritone up to "Drop C"...lol...
Now playing that thing in standard tuning feels really bassy...
