So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

What songs does Dave have that can more or less be played with Standard chords?
I know Grey Street, Busted Stuff, Billies, Everyday, and a few others can be played (not sounding official, but good enough for a beginner) with standard chords, what about anything else? Can Stay, for instance, sound good with any standard chords? Again, does anybody know what I'm even talking abiout?

I just realized Spoon, and more or less Dancing Nancies. Sheesh, even What Would You Say can be played (not too well though) with only chords. Any others?

Oh, I know it's wrong. Well actually, it's not "wrong." If someone asks you to play it like Dave it's be wrong but it's not really wrong if it sounds like it. But anyway:) I know it's considered wrong, but for my own curiousity I like to know which songs can be played with chords and sound like it.

Two Step works about as well using fundamental chord voicings as Tripping Billies does - they both require a lot of speed in the changes but can be pulled off.
I would have to say the easiest and the one I have seen done the most is #41. Almost everyone who hasn't seen a REAL tab of the song really loves to voice it with the typical Am progression.
As for songs Dave has actually done with basic chord voicings, I agree, not many. You can check Song That Janes Likes, Ants Marching(aside from the little riff), and Gravedigger.
I'm not entirely sure Stay would work out to well for you with basic voicings. It relies a lot on those quick little moves and slides in that opening riff.

My first 2 songs that I learned of Dave...well in a way...I played 2step with your regular Dm and other "open chords"...the same for #41...little could my ear tell (at the age of 11) that it was so complicated (stretch wise) lol
