Quick One Sweet World Question?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Quick One Sweet World Question?

Unread post by White Guy » Sun May 01, 2005 12:56 am

I've watched many a DMB, D&T, and Dave solo videos (mostly compliments of this awesome community) of One Sweet World, and I can't seem to make out the 4 on low E, 5 pull-off 3 on A during the intro and "One Sweet World..." part. It looks like Dave just plays the 3 on A before going into the two slides. Am I missing something, or is this something that Dave just plays on occasion?

If I've lost anyone, here's what I'm talking about...

"One Sweet World..."
E:--------------------------------
B:--------------------------------
G:-8---7--5------------5/7--7--5--
D:-10--8--6--------3/5------8--6--
A:-x---x--x----5p3----------x--x--
E:-8---6--4--4-------------- 6--4--
2 3_1 (1) (2)

^ ^
Right Here!

I'm sorry that looks like shit, but I don't know how to copy the actual tab into this message. Anyway, I'd appreciate any feedback.

Thanks ya'll!

Peace!

Well, I don't know what the hell happened to that tab I put in, but it looks a hell of a lot different now than it did before I submitted it.

Damn... where'd that smiley come from. I never entered that.

I've probably confused the hell out of ya'll with that, but let me know if I need to rephrase anything.

when you want to post a tab, first write it out in a word precoessor, word perfect, wordpad, or even notepad. Make sure it's in the font Courier New. Then when you put it here, select the text, and there are little buttons on the top of the posting window. Select the CODE button, that makes it readable. Also, Dave always plays it that way. I have just listened to the L@LC version, you can hear the pull (or sometimes sounds like he just plucks it on fret 5 then fret 3). Listen to that, it should be loud and clear.

Thanks Ranting Thespian, jellyfish, and Sciaracastro!

I thought I heard more than just the 3 on A before going into the slides, but I thought maybe my ears were playing tricks on me because for some reason I couldn't see it. When I play it, I knew it didn't sound quite right without the preceding notes. It sounded like there was something missing, but when I did play it (as the tab on this site has it)... it sounded like I was playing too many notes. Dave must hit those notes real quick because he blends it perfectly... he's good! I'll keep practicing.

Nah... I knew he played the chorus with just the 3 on A and then the two slides. I was talking about the intro like on L@LC and the "One Sweet World... " part around 3:10 into the song on L@LC... like you also said.

By the way, thanks ya'll for the "DMBTabs for Dummies" advice. Let me try posting a tab again... just for grins...

Code: Select all

"One Sweet World..."
E:--------------------------------
B:--------------------------------
G:-8---7--5------------5/7--7--5--
D:-10--8--6--------3/5------8--6--
A:-x---x--x----5p3----------x--x--
E:-8---6--4--4--------------6--4--
             2 3_1 (1) (2)

I hope that worked. Thanks again ya'll!

i was watching the vid of dave and big voice jack playing osw and jack was on what i think was a tin whistle and it sounded pretty cool, so i was trying to think of what key iot had to be in, i assumed it would have had to been in a basic key since you probably cant get a tin whistle in anything weird
