So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Opinions on Dave playing the same songs two nights in a row

Unread post by lordmelt » Fri Mar 28, 2003 2:20 am

i have noticed a few times, dave is playing some songs two nights in a row.... dont get me wrong, dave is by far my favorite musician to listen to, but, i dont know about playing a song two nights in a row... i just think that it should be mixed up, for lots of obvious reasons, this is not an insulting post by any means, i just do not understand why he would play something two nights in a row, i know different people are at different shows, but, shouldn't it be switched up? not complaining, i would love to see dave and tim no matter what the song what the night, but, i just wanted to see some other opinions on this matter,

just my 2 cents, not at all trying to rag on dave, just curious

I'd say yeah don't play the same song twice if it's a festival, like the gorge or whatever, but if he's changing stages/cities then i could see him/myself playing a song twice

my thought

what the fuck dude?

why are you talking shit about dave? At least he does play with tim reynolds now...it's people like you, being all critical of what dave plays, that are making him stop playing with tim!!!!

BLA DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!! I know what you are saying and I feel the same way for the most part...I know that when I saw him play practically the exact same set list that I heard two nights before, I was kinda disappointed...I really wouldnt care if he played So Much To Say or WWYS or LIOG fifty million times in a row though!

i agree with the switching venues point, that is a little more acceptable...

i am really not trying to talk shit at all, just seeing what you thought, i love dave, i was just seeing what people thought about him playing the same songs two nights in a row, im not critical, i would love it either way, just trying to make a point, that i think it would be cooler if he didnt play a song two shows in a row

however, i am not dave, i never will be, and i shouldn't criticize him at all, hes my favorite musician, best songwriter of all time i think, i just wanted to generate a discussion on opinions of playing the same song(s) two nights in a row, i would love it no matter what he played, just wondering what others thought on the subject, i mean, i think i DO have a point, but, its all good either way, i was just wondering what the dave community thought

no criticism intended, just discussion, i love dave, and i always will

peace fellow dave lovers

It doesn't really bother me. If he plays the same setlist in July, three days and 250 miles apart, I'll be annoyed.

I understand where you're coming from, but I don't really even enjoy talking about it all that much. He plays what he plays; if I start not to like it, I won't go. ;)

Who Cares? Thats the chance you take...Its everybodys dream to to go to a DMB show and have him play everything you wanted to hear. But how often does that happen? Ive been going to shows since 94' and have seen many songs performed over & over. But each time I hear them its like hearing it new for the first time (cause Im usually drunk as a bitch)....Anyway, I feel ya and everybody else does too. But thats the chance you take.

yeah sometimes i DO wish he would play a song two nights in a row...this is the very reason i missed LIOG and #41 when i went to the gorge...D'Oh!

ok, i just got home from the bars :D ! (druunnk.....[stoned] )
i've read all of the other replies and you've only recieved flack from everyone. i could understand if dave was at the gorge(i live in bend, or.), and he played the same song twice during that weekend. you and i know that they have more than 40 songs(yes i was at the gorge all three days).

now, if they were playing show to show, city to city i don't think i would have any problem with them playin' the same song twice in two shows.

i followed dave for four shows from northern cali to southern'ish cali last year and ofcourse i heard some of the same songs twice..... i collect dave bootlegs and i have like fifty shows that have a lot of the same songs. it don't bother me much but i understand what your saying. dave can play what ever the fuck he want as long as he shows up.
goodnight ya'll!

I say just be glad D&T didn't come up with a single setlist for the whole tour and played that list straight through at each and every show. Some bands do that, ya know.
