Crash string muting

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Crash string muting

Unread post by erik728 » Mon Nov 04, 2002 8:20 am

Hello all,

This is my first post. What a great site! I would like to know if someone could give me some insight on how to mute the strings on the Crash tab? Any help would be appreciated.

for the verses, you'll use your index finger (1st finger) to mute the string. You may be tempted to press vertically on the string above it, but to mute the string below, you have to angle it over the string that's to be muted so that it touches it so that when you strum the chord, it muffles out and you don't hear it. (I'd be much easier (for me) to show than explain) the same goes for the 2-X-X-2-3-X chord on the "baby.." part - only the angle your index must make is a bit sharper so that you touch both of those strings with it.

I hope this makes sense and helps you out.

peace,
Ken
