I retarded question about tabs

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Well.. i just want to know how to play a tab that looks like this:

shouldnt something be played on the A chord? or is it some sort of picking, or mute? Sorry if it is a retarded question, but I just dont get it :? Thanks.

I would say mute it with your 1 finger.

yeah use your one finger to mute the A string and use your pinky to hammer the 4h5 on the G string.

I said before that I play Crush this way, but I realized that it's not exactly the same.

I made a tab for someone to show the exact way that I play Crush, try it out...I am not sure if Dave actually plays it just like this, but I think it sounds much better than what is on this site. Here:

It's funny becuase after seeing D&T I did notice that Dave does hit that note on the G string. I will check to see if he does with full band but I will be making a note about that on my tab when I get back. I did notice it in Farm Aid also but I thought he did it ONLY on that one but I was wrong apparently....lata all

I just wanted to say thanks to billy for postin that tab, and the audio to it, it helped me learn crush , basically from scratch, in about 3 hours (which is damn good by my standards... its a tough song)
