So Much To Say?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

So Much To Say?

Unread post by gvntofly » Thu Mar 03, 2005 5:18 pm

Hello all! I'm new on the boards but have been chekin out the site for a month or so now and i find it very helpful!! thanks for everything you guys do!

anyway, I've been a DMB fan since before "Under the Table". i live in a small town thats about 1.5 hours from Charlotteville VA and had the good fortune of seeing DMB live in small clubs back before and during the "Remember Two Things" era. About a year and half ago i picked up a guitar and have been hooked ever since. Ive been trying to learn SMTS here lately and man its tough. dont get me wrong...i'm getting it but i guess my inexperience is working against me. did it take any of you guys a long time to get SMTS wired?

thanks for having me!!
Tim

hey tim - welcome to the boards
SMTS has a lot going on guitar-wise for pretty much the whole song, so your left hand is gonna be moving all over the frets - i'd suggest start playing it slow, and gradually go to faster tempos - with enough practice you'll be playin it in no time

Hey man, welcome to the site. :) It's a great place.

I made a SMTS audio clip, it might help a bit. :) http://www.patmcinnis.com/smtsclip.mp3

Welcome to the boards!

SMTS was one to the first DMB songs that I learned it took forever to get to where it sounded decent...

Now a little over a year later I can smoothly play all of the chords and hit all of the slides (usually) but I still can't make it sound near as funky as Dave.

Good Luck

that guitar riff is one of the things that got me hooked to dave as well, its a rough one. But when you get it it can sound sick as hell!

Welcome, and enjoy
