It seems so much easier to get songs to sound right with an amp. I can play the verse to Tripping Billies and it sounds dead on; before just acousitically there would be a little buzzing at certain parts, but not with an amp. I love it

Do you have an acoustic with a pickup? I would never buy a new acoustic without one.

eh, if coult have my way...Id rather just mic the soundhole. No amp sound can beat a full dreadnought unamped.

Ive got a taylor and i play it through my nice sized fender amp (i love the effects and that I can sing through it as welll) but i gotta agree with beuford on this one... nothing sounds better than micing up the soundhole, always sounds so crisp

I hear you, I think because we never really hear just dave without amplification. When you plug in you're getting a lot closer to Dave's "sound"

What a pickup does is it converts the vibrations from the strings into electronic impulses which can be processed and amplified. A full electric depends totally on pickups to produce its electronic sound. An electric acoustic both picks up vibrations from strings and takes the sound from the sound hole and converts it to an electronic impulse for an amp.
