The 'Dave' guitar sound
The 'Dave' guitar sound
Familiar with the spendy Martin custom (Dave's model that is), seen it for $3k+. Any comments or suggestions on make/model in the $1.5k range that is going to give me like sound? Pref cutaways for my short stubby fingers. Thx all.

If you want, check out the main page and see what guitars Dave has played in the past. I believe the Martin HD-28V is a little more expensive than that, but it's what Dave played before he got his signature guitar from Martin. But more than anything, go to a guitar store and mess around with all kinds of guitars, and try to find a sound that you like. So it all depends on what you are looking for. But good luck

its hard to get exact sound from another musician, you need the exact guitar with its customizing, you need to have the same amps, set ups whether for live shows or recording to get the sound.
I dont think anyone needs to get the exact tone of a guitar. It's how you interepret his music that make it "like sound"

okay children, gather round. what i meant was that i thought it was weird to say tone is in your fingers if your a guitar player because you normally use a pick, so its more your attack/technique/rythm that generates the tone. if you're finger picking, then the tone would come from your fingers.Tranman66 wrote:how can your fingers and picks make different tone?MWR wrote:GSRLessard14 wrote:especially if they're holding a pick. or you're a bass player.Locarius wrote:Tone is in your fingers.

"Tone is in your fingers" is much more applicable to bass players.
