Does anybody else play the end of the verse this way instead of the way its posted on this site?
Verse
E:------------------------------------------------------
B:------------------------------------------------------
G:---2-----------------3--------------2----------------
D:-----3-5-5-2-3-2---x-5-5-2-3-2--------3---2------
A:-5-------------------1-------------5--3-1---5--3-0-
E:-------------------3-3--------------------------------
instead of using fingers 1 and 4 on the 1 and 3, i use fingers 1 and 2 so that my pinky is open to hit the 5 on A. i like this way better, my hand just naturally does it.[/code]

well, i don't know much about theory and all that shit but the way its posted on this site you would be hitting the D string open which gives more of a longer open ring and the way i play it you hit the D on the fifth fret of the A sting which is the same note but you have more control of the note when you fret it instead of hitting it open. dave obviously plays it open on listener supported, i was just asking if anyone else plays it the other way.
i know what you mean with the whole lyrics thing. if i'm listening to dave in my car i don't miss one lyric of any of his songs but put a guitar in my hand and all of a sudden i'm singing the last verse of tripping billies to start the song off and just get totally confused.

I play it a little differently. Same notes, I just play an open D instead of the 5th fret on the A.
I just find it a bit easier than hitting the 5 w/my 4th finger.
Code: Select all
E:------------------------------------------------------
B:------------------------------------------------------
G:---2-----------------3-------------2----------------
D:-0---3-5-5-2-3-2-----x-5-5-2-3-2-0--------3-0-2------
A:---------------------1----------------3-1--------3-0-
E:-------------------3-3--------------------------------
