Ants Marching Into

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Ants Marching Into

Unread post by Seels » Sat Nov 20, 2004 8:51 pm

I was wondering if anyone knows the tab or how to play all that stuff that Dave plays at live shows before the Ants Marching. Like that little jam he does at the beggining moving down the neck. If you need a specific example, the Ants encore from the first night at the Gorge in 2002. Thanks for any help.

Thanks, I don't know how I missed that. But there is one more part to it i think. Right after his does that slide, he messes around with a chord or two around the second and third frets.

Also, he messed around during the violin jam, sounds like different versions of D and G chords, and just sliding them around.

Any deas on either of these?

also on the main page... durring the intro he uses a D chord, then lays down his fourth finger on fret 3, string 1, to do what boyd and leroi are doin... and i forget the other chords in the jam but theyre on the main page.

Hmmmm....I dont see either of those things on site link. Only thing for the into is the slide down and then that little slide up into a D on the 10th fret, and it doesn't have any chords for the jam part, just for comming out of it.

I am fooling around with some 9th chords, on the 3th and 5th frets,, and that sounds similar to it (the jam thing that is). Also throwing in that C shaped chord that he plays as a D two frets up and adding my fourth finger onto the 3rd string 5th fret.

Code: Select all

During the violin Jam he just plays D-chord then G-chord

After violin Jam he plays

E---------2------2--3--------
B---------3------3--0-----2--
G-5---4---2---4--2--0--4--2--
D-x---x---0---4--0--0--4--2--
A-3---2-------2-----2--2-----
E-5---3-------------3--------

Dave ends on a D-chord and sometimes switches to this D-chord(7/25/99)

E----
B-3--
G-x--
D-4--
A-5--
E----

Yea, thats what I am saying. He doesn't just play a D and G chord during the Violin Jam, at least not in the versions I am looking at (Folsom Field, Gorge).
