DMB Sheet Music

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

DMB Sheet Music

Unread post by Speenis » Mon Nov 15, 2004 10:19 pm

For my "final" in my guitar class I need to play two different songs, one with just playing chords, and another for note reading the melody. So we have to bring in the sheet music to the two songs we're playing and I have a few questions. I really want to do the Stone so I was planning on picking up the sheet music for BTCS. Now, can someone explain to me the difference between these two books....

Also, do you think these books will have the same notes as the tab here? I mean, can I basically show my teacher the music, and play it like Dave does? Thanks for any input.

Format 1: guitar tablature songbook. With standard guitar notation, guitar tablature, vocal melody, lyrics and guitar notation legend.

Format 2: piano/vocal/chords songbook. With vocal melody, piano accompaniment, lyrics, chord names, guitar chord diagrams and introductory text.

So does the one you have sound like Format 1 or 2?

The Cherry Lane one has the wrong tab though, but the right notes.

No, each string has different intonation, especially if it's open instead of fretted. Yes, they're the same notes but they're not accurate tabs of what Dave Matthews plays. If that's what Speen's gonna play, that's not good because they won't match up.

Right, so if they are the same notes, I could play it just like Dave then right?

Right, sheet music wise. Not according to those tabs though. and it's har dto play the stone with open strings, they resonate too long and it sounds bad.
