Impress with a DMB song

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Impress with a DMB song

Unread post by hockyfan » Thu Oct 28, 2004 5:45 pm

Hey everyone, I've been using this site for a long time for its videos and only now joined the forums (although I've been browsing for a long time as well). I must say it's helped me greatly and really increased my appreciation of DMB; keep up the great work! 8)

I have a question, I know someone who isn't currently a fan of DMB, but is a very talented musician (particularly fond of playing/listening to jazz, and The Beatles). Anyway, he asked me to pick "the best" DMB song and he'll give it a listen, as I've always told him how talented DMB is but he would always deny it.

So I ask all of you, if you had to choose one song to use to "show off" the full extent of DMB's skills, talents, and abilities, which would it be?

Thanks in advance.

I would go with the studio version The Stone, or maybe Crush ...both great songs with a lot going on.

I have to re-listen to The Stone, Crush I know fairly well. I'd also like to be able to showcase Dave's vocal capabilities, so I was thinking of possibly Ants Marching, but I was looking for some more choices.

well, trippin billies has amazing drums(at least as far as i can hear...) and pretty kick ass guitar...i dont know where boyds solo would rank among violinists...and leroi doesnt do much other than basic stuff.

actually i dont know if this is very talented..its just the song im listening to right now

Looks like The Stone is winning so far...I'm still up for more suggestions though.

I know not many people will agree with me but Spoon is one of his more impressive songs from a purely compositional point of view. I've always thought it was one of his better ones.

live version of the stone. Try the Gorge or another recent version. For the most part it is the same as the old ones, excpet at the beginning of the third verse, Carter does a fill around the toms and it shows his chops as well as there being a climax in the tune. (other then the end)

Haha, not Crash, I'm looking for a more complex song, and not looking to impress any girls (at least not with this song). ;)
