So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

DDTW Recording

Unread post by Smaegol » Fri Feb 28, 2003 2:45 am

Sorry about the reverb in this clip, I can redo it and eliminate that if it helps. I only had 60 secs to do this (Sound recorder) so Its not the actual step by step of the sound, but it will give you a good idea on the rythm and chord changes throughout the song. Hope this helps anyone who might stuggle with the timing of DDTW. I did it very quickly and only had 60 seconds, so I can redo it like i said. Let me know if this sounds OK and if it can help..

Thanks

dude!(sound recorder), that's exactly where i'm at, 60 sec's to bust out every part of the song to the best of your ability....doing the song reasonable justice at the same time. very tough.
very good job on the ddtw by the way. i always drop down from the 0577 to 0577, making it very noticeable, like a d&t show. your version sounded a lot like a live show w/ the band or an album version with timmy. but a very good job overall, i think. i thought it always to be tough to get down the, "...and i live with my justice, and i live with my greedy needs...." part. its all about the stummin' and timmin'. you have to tell me how to post those 60 sec. sound recordings over the internet. up to now i've been using musicmatch/jukebox which lets you record as long as you want, ofcourse its still using the computer mic with no direct connection.....bummer. help?

Why dont you guys download cool edit? Its a pretty good program, and reasonably priced on Kazaa, if you catch my drift. No timing restraints there, and theres a shitload of features.

Actually, you are not limited to 60 sec when you use sound recorder.
This is what you need to do:
1. Open the file you have for DDTW.
2. Go to the EFFECTS drop down menu and click on DECREASE SPEED.
each time you do this it doubles the time of the recording...so the first time you do this the file changes from a 60 sec file to a 120 sec file...next time you do it it goes to a 240 sec file...etc.
Now, the sound of the file will be very slow motion but don't worry.
3. Save the file as another name.

Now you can open this file and record over the original content and walla! more time to record.

I hopes this helps.
Good job on DDTW by the way

.....or you could just download cool edit pro and not have to worry messin with sound recorder. Add to this the fact that you'll be able to record multiple tracks, get neat-o effects like echo chambers and reverb, and a lot more. Check out Xoosh's cool edit pro tutorial stickied in the Recording/Critiquing section.
