Muting

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Muting

Unread post by QuattroDore » Tue Feb 25, 2003 3:15 pm

On the repeated verse section of One Sweet World (the riff that is repeated about 100 times in the song), on the muted strings after the slide, does Dave palm mute or does he use his left hand to silence them?

I don't know why, but I've always had trouble with palm mutes. Feels awkward to me, especially if I am sitting down.

Thanks y'all.

LEFT
Everybody always asks me how she's doing. Has she really lost her mind? I said "I couldn't tell you, I've lost mine."

no lefty here, and left is probably the best way, but like me if u practice it u can mute prettymuch everything with your right as u strum, which is my favorite

But then thats basicaly "brushing" and "trapping" more so than "muting" (done primarily by the left) :)

OK, prime examples of the difference between "muting", and ""trapping"

MUTING: THE STONE (Dave Matthews)

TRAPPING: NO SUCH THING (John Mayer)

I use my left if I want to pretend someone else is doing it, and my right if I want...Oh, wait.

We're not talking about that, are we?
