Granny...anyone hearin' those harmonics??
It's not in the tabs up here...but a few versions..actually most of them...that dave plays the harmonics is usually so present and the one hit just adds so much to the song...
figure jkanter might be able to help..but from the sounds of it..it seems to be somthin along the lines of this
(picking up at the ending of the verse riff...)
E:------------------------(7)
B:------------------------(7)
G:------------------------(7)
D:------------------------(7)
A:------------------------(7)
E:----3-----2-----x------(7)
where the 7th fret is barred but muted to get a harmonics...I dunno...what does everyone else think?

I think in granny the harmonics kinda just "happen" cause of the way your fingers are moving and the strumming. It just comes naturally on this song. At least for me.Jonny B Good wrote:Ohh..yaah just gave that a run through...and I think you are right...sounds like it could be the B. Thanks for the suggestion!

when i play granny i always end up hitting harmonics on the d and g strings on the fifth fret and then the seventh. does anyone ever hit harms. on fifth fret on ants marching after hitting the g instead of muting? also, i always use harms. on jimi thing after the whole 7h9 deal after going down to an A right before the 7-6 to 7-7 hammer-on.

From the LATC tab book:
-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
--------------------(5h)----------
-------------(5h)-----------------
------(5h)------------------------
------(5h)------------------------
I can't get the harmonics to sound right... maybe to book is wrong

i don't know if this was commom knowledge but i've never taken the transcriptions from a tab book or magazine to be right on. especially in the LALC tab book, tims solo's maybe, but most of the time the transcriber doesn't look into that artists style, especially dave mathews' style, totally different then the basics. anyone agree or am i by myself?
