Lie in our graves question

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Lie in our graves question

Unread post by mlb1399 » Tue Sep 28, 2004 11:50 am

I have been working on trying to perfect the song and I am having trouble at one spot. I was just wondering on the intro when he does the Em->A->G, how many times does he play each. I have been playing Em 3x, A 1x, G 1x and it doesn't sound right. Any ideas?

Ok, it sounds like he's doing Em 2x with mute, A once, and G 2 times, once being bass and the other treble.

Here is another question, I am watching D&T 3-29-3 and it looks like dave is playing D/F# on the intro to LIOG. On the tabs here, it looks like they show a D and that is what I play. Anyone know if he does in fact occasionally play the D/F# or is he just moving his hand into an akward position and not playing the F#?

On Pat's video he plays the D chord as well.

I usually just add the F# with my thumb.

Right, as does Dave in the DVD. What I'm wondering is that does he always play LIOG with D/F#?

im pretty sure he always throws his thumb on that F# when he is playing D, but i dont think he actually ever hits it, just watch granny and im pretty sure he does the same thing wqithout playing the F#

When I play a D i always use my thumb to mute the E and A strings. I think that is what dave is doing also.

yeah, i always thought he was playing a D/F#, but he's really just muting the E and A so he can strum all of the strings at once.
